8 May 2025 Share on X Share on Facebook Strong Tattersalls Online May Sale topped by Destructive at 76,000 Guineas Following a lively day of bidding, three-time winner DESTRUCTIVE topped proceedings at the Tattersalls Online May Sale when selling for 76,000 guineas to Deva Racing Dubai. Consigned by Michael Bell’s Fitzroy House, the four-year-old son of MORE THAN READY had a productive winter campaign on the all-weather when winning three races consecutively, culminating with success in the valuable AWC Mile Trial Handicap at Lingfield in February. The 104 Timeform-rated gelding had previously finished fourth in the Listed Al Bastakiya at Meydan which appealed to Deva Racing’s Ryan Tongue who said afterwards: “We are delighted to have purchased Destructive online today. He came highly recommended and is by prolific dirt sire More Than Ready. He won three of his last four starts and is on a mark of 97, which is perfect for a Dubai campaign. He will head to dual Champion trainer Bhupat Seemar who does an excellent job with these types. He stays a mile and could be a future Godolphin Mile horse. He is only four and keeps improving. I love that he already has experience in Dubai where he ran very well at three. There will be lots of options for him over there.” Tongue has been a prominent supporter of the regular Tattersalls Online sales and emphasised his delight with securing another exciting prospect today: “It’s always a thrill to secure a horse from Tattersalls Online. It’s an amazing platform and we have had lots of success with it. It is simple to use and the process is so transparent. Almost every horse we bought has been a winner. Let’s hope Destructive is running next year on Dubai World Cup night and we can continue with the platform’s success that we have been enjoying so far.” John and Thady Gosden’s Clarehaven Stables consigned the second highest priced lot of the sale with Group 3 winner ORNE who realised 50,000 guineas to Northgate Lodge Stud. Winner of the Group 3 Horris Hill Stakes as a two-year-old, the son of ACCLAMATION has demonstrated high-class form since then including finishing second in the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes behind subsequent Group 1 winner INISHERIN. Also hitting the 50,000 guineas mark was Irish point-to-pointer THEREYARE purchased by Dan Astbury and Stockton Hall from Jamie Codd’s Churchlands Stables. The four-year-old son of JET AWAY finished an eye-catching second on debut at Ballysteen last month behind Colin Bowe’s MIDTOWN MANHATTAN who subsequently sold at auction for €205,000. Another lot which proved popular was three-year-old gelding PASSING PHASE from Jessica Harrington’s Commonstown Stables who sold for 41,000 guineas to Kuwait based Abdullah Salman Alsabah. Meanwhile, Willie Mullins’ Closutton Stables were again amongst the leading consignors with three lots sold, highlighted by the Grade 2 winning hurdler BIALYSTOK who realised 33,000 guineas to TJ Bloodstock. The Tattersalls Online May Sale realised a turnover of 576,600 guineas for 60 lots sold, at an average price of 9,610 guineas. Over 320 bidders registered for the sale from over 15 countries including Britain, France, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden, the U.S.A. and Zambia as well as bidders from throughout the Gulf region.
