Lastotchka Tops Tattersalls Online January Sale at 60,000 Guineas

Dual Group 3 winner LASTOTCHKA topped the Tattersalls Online January Sale when realising 60,000 guineas to Capucines Bloodstock.

Consigned from France by agent Ronald Rauscher, the daughter of MYBOYCHARLIE was also twice placed at Group 2 level as well as winning in Listed company throughout her illustrious career. Out of a dual winner, the seven-year-old mare hails from the family of Group 1 winners LINDA’S LAD and RAIL LINK.

Jean-Daniel Manceau of Capucines Bloodstock commented following the sale:

“She has been purchased by Capucines Bloodstock in a new partnership including a few regular breeders from Haras des Capucines. We really liked this mare’s profile and we had the chance to inspect her before bidding. She is a nice, well-made filly with a really good walk. She was consistent on the turf and a multiple Group winner so it was a great opportunity. We think she was really good value at this price and we were delighted to buy her.”

Manceau, a regular Tattersalls Online participant added:

“I am delighted to use the Tattersalls Online platform. It is really easy. Anyone can do it. The good thing is there is all the different types of stock in one sale, from breeding rights to mares to horses in training. You can fulfil all the needs of your clients. I am following each sale quite closely and hope to find more horses and more success through it.”

Proving popular in the sale was talented dual-purpose performer CHARLUS, one of a trio sold by Willie Mullins’ Closutton Stables. Currently rated 132 over hurdles, the Listed-placed son of CHURCHILL was second at Punchestown last month and sold to D P O’Dwyer Bloodstock today for 50,000 guineas.

Following the sale O’Dwyer said:

“Charlus was purchased for an existing group of owners and hopefully he can contest at Cheltenham or Aintree this year. They could put him away and try him over fences next year but there will also be options for him on the flat. He is going to give this syndicate a lot of fun and a few days out. He was sourced from a good yard and goes to another good yard in Dan Skelton’s.”

The lightly raced JE SUIS CELEBRE was another lot boasting strong recent form having finished a close runner-up on just his second career start this month for trainer Ian Williams. Bred and owned by Richard Kent of Mickley Stud, the son of the stud’s MAASSAAT found favour when selling for 41,000 guineas to Stephen Thorne Racing and Shamrock Thoroughbreds.

Topping the broodmare section and realising the joint-second highest price in the sale was the beautifully bred HOTAUGUSTNIGHT. Consigned by The Glanvilles Stud, she was sold for 50,000 guineas to Kong Bloodstock. The six-year-old mare by CAMELOT is a sister to the Listed placed and Group 1 Epsom Derby fourth DEIRA MILE as well as being a close relation to Derby runner-up AMBIENTE FRIENDLY.

Doug Proctor of The Glanvilles Stud was delighted with today’s result and commented on how the flexibility of online was an appealing option for the sale of the mare:

“I find the Tattersalls Online platform particularly useful. There is quite a structured live sales calendar throughout the year and sometimes the need to sell horses does not always fit into that structure. Because you are not travelling anywhere, the monthly online sales fill that void, especially when you consider foaling dates and selling mares throughout the year.”

The sale provided a rare opportunity to invest in Group 1 producing first season sire SPACE BLUES with a breeding right to the young stallion realising 32,000 guineas to Hurworth Bloodstock. The Kildangan Stud resident enjoyed a memorable first crop of runners in 2025 led by Group 1 Phoenix Stakes winner POWER BLUE and the multiple Group 2 placed DO OR DO NOT.

The Tattersalls Online January Sale realised a turnover of 438,200 guineas for 53 lots sold at an average price of 8,268 guineas. Over 310 bidders registered for the sale from countries including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, France, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Romania, Spain as well as bidders from throughout the Gulf region.
