The Tattersalls Online August Sale was headed by National Hunt mare BARBADOS BLUE who sold for 90,000 guineas to the bid of Richard Venn Bloodstock.

BARBADOS BLUE, a two-time winning daughter of GETAWAY was second in the Listed Lady Godiva Stakes last December. Offered as Lot 8 in the sale, she is carrying her first foal to recently relocated Overbury Stud stallion, GOLDEN HORN. She is out of BUCK’S BLUE, herself a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner BIG BUCK’S, and is a half-sister to Listed winner MORE BUCK’S.

Following the sale, successful purchaser, Richard Venn, commented on future plans for the mare:

“She is going to go to Ireland and was purchased on behalf of a new client. He was very excited by the mare, by her pedigree and, obviously, by the cover as well. She looks a lovely mare. Obviously, she stood out in the catalogue. We were very pleased to get her. The pedigree is very easy to breed with. There are lots of options, lots of possibilities for her further down the line.”

After his first successful venture on the platform, Venn added on his use of Tattersalls Online:

“It was very straight forward. Today worked really well. All the information was there and it was really easy to follow. It was quite interesting to watch the time adding away and the bids coming in thick and fast. It was an all-round good experience.”

BARBADOS BLUE was offered on behalf on Charlie Parker’s Crimbourne Bloodstock who was very pleased following the results of the sale:

“We are really happy. We used Tattersalls Online last year to sell Vegas Blue and that went very well and this was even better today. I think it is a really good platform to sell horses. We are very happy with the result.”

A Lifetime Breeding Right to SHOWCASING was offered as Lot 34, and was secured by Tinnakill House, Ireland, for 60,000 guineas. SHOWCASING is the sire of 2022 Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes winner DRAMATISED, as well as Group 1 winners ADVERTISE and QUIET REFLECTION.

A Breeding Right to ACLAIM was also offered on the platform which realised 17,500 guineas and was secured by Hyde Park Stud, breeders of Group 1 1000 Guineas winner, CACHET.

Lot 10 was a colt foal by multiple Classic winning sire CAMELOT, offered by Baroda Stud. He was purchased by Goldenfort Farm for 17,000 guineas.

The Tattersalls Online August Sale realised a gross of 231,500 from the sale of 17 Lots, with a top price of 90,000 guineas. The sale attracted more than one hundred registered bidders from far and wide including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Canada.
