Tattersalls Online Graduate Miss Yechance Lands Group 1 Glory in Prix de l’Abbaye

Tattersalls Online graduate MISS YECHANCE completed a remarkable rise to Group 1 glory after landing the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp.

The three-year-old daughter of COTAI GLORY, sold by EMW Equine to Royal Chance Bloodstock for 250,000 guineas in the Tattersalls Online June Pop-Up Sale in June 2025, produced a determined performance under young jockey Jack Nicholls to prevail in one of Europe’s most prestigious sprinting contests.

Trained by Karl Burke for Al Leith Racing Club, MISS YECHANCE travelled prominently throughout the five-furlong Group 1 before showing her characteristic speed and determination in the closing stages, holding off the challenge of SHIRI to record a famous victory.

MISS YECHANCE was originally purchased by EMW Equine for £32,000 as a yearling before being offered at the breeze-up sales in April 2025, where she was unsold at £48,000.

Following an impressive winning debut over five furlongs at Redcar for Jack Morland, connections elected to offer the filly through Tattersalls Online, where she attracted intense international interest and was offered with entries in both the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes and Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Having raced in Dubai last season where she secured a win and two placings at Meydan for Julio Olascoaga, MISS YECHANCE joined Karl Burke’s stable on her return and has continued to improve throughout 2026, winning a valuable handicap at York’s Ebor meeting before stepping up to Group company to land the Group 3 World Trophy Stakes at Newbury in September.

Sunday’s thrilling performance is a significant step forward for the filly to claim her first Group 1 success on the biggest stage. The victory also represents a landmark success for 20-year-old jockey Jack Nicholls, who was partnering Miss Yechance for his first Group 1 ride, having previously ridden her to victory in the Group 3 World Trophy at Newbury.

Meanwhile, fellow Tattersalls Online graduate and recent Group 3 winner NAANA’S SHADOW placed seventh in the race, finishing only a length-and-a-half behind MISS YECHANCE. The Katie Scott-trained daughter of HAVANA GREY has recorded five wins for new connections Summerstorm Bloodstock, highlighted by the Group 3 Prix du Petit Couvert on her penultimate start, since being purchased in the 2025 Online November Sale for 20,000 guineas from Alice Haynes Racing.

Tattersalls Online Sales Manager, Katherine Sheridan, commented:

“Miss Yechance’s victory is a fantastic endorsement for Tattersalls Online and for the opportunities that the platform can provide to both buyers and sellers. The decision by EMW Equine and her owners to offer her through Tattersalls Online at exactly the right moment created a fantastic opportunity for her new connections, and they have been rewarded with a top-class sprinting filly. We would like to congratulate Royal Chance Bloodstock, Al Leith Racing Club, Karl Burke, Jack Nicholls and all of the connections on a fantastic Group 1 success.”

MISS YECHANCE’s Prix de l’Abbaye triumph is another remarkable addition to the ever-growing list of Tattersalls Online graduates achieving at the highest level.

The next sale to take place on the platform is the Tattersalls Online October Sale on 21 – 22 October with the catalogue due to be published on Wednesday 14 October.
