Record Participation Drives Strong Demand at Tattersalls Online September Sale

The continued growth of the Tattersalls Online platform was demonstrated once again at the Online September Sale with a new record of participants recorded after 463 bidders joined the sale, a 6% increase on the previous record set in last month’s sale. The sale also recorded 100 lots exchanging hands in the largest ever sale to be held on the platform. 

Topping the sale was a breeding right to the Darley-based stallion PALACE PIER which realised 48,000 guineas to J and A Young Racing. Responsible for 14 flat stakes performers to date, the exciting young sire’s best progeny include Group 2 Lowther Stakes winner ROYAL FIXATION and recent Deauville Listed scorer ROSBERG. 

Among a strong collection of broodmares, the Rathbran House Stud consigned SIRYA STAR took top honours when fetching 31,000 guineas to The Dell Bloodstock. A half-sister to Group 1 French 2,000 Guineas runner-up ISAAC SHELBY, the daughter of RAVEN’S PASS was offered in foal to leading first season sire BAYSIDE BOY.

Leading the way among the horses in training section was Wathnan Racing’s Timeform 94-rated miler SKIPPER, bought for 22,000 guineas by David Gibbons from Kremlin House Stables. 

Baroda Stud offered the largest consignment in the catalogue with 16 lots of which 15 were sold for an aggregate of 105,100 guineas. Highest priced of the draft was twice-raced juvenile HEART OF YOU who went the way of David Kelly for 21,000 guineas.

Having landed leading consignor honours for yet another Tattersalls Online sale, Baroda Stud’s Bloodstock and Marketing Executive Sarah Kelly commented:

The busiest purchaser of the day was bloodstock agent Darren O’Dwyer who signed on behalf of four lots, led by 16,000 guineas purchase HEART SIGN for trainer Tony Carroll.

Following a busy afternoon of bidding, O’Dwyer reflected on his purchases and the continued appeal of the Tattersalls Online sales:   

“We are very happy with the four horses we purchased today and found very good value. There is always a great selection of stock in the Tattersalls Online sales. Coming into the jumps season there are people looking for horses so it’s great to be active with orders to fill. I find there is still real value to be found online, if you do your homework. You know there is a sale every month. You have plenty of time to get your ducks in a row and you can do it all from the comfort of your own home.”

The Tattersalls Online September Sale realised a turnover of 659,200 guineas for 100 lots sold at an average price of 6,592 guineas. Bidders joined the sale from countries all over the world including Britain, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Turkey and the United States as well as from throughout the Gulf region.
