Tattersalls Online to Host Dedicated Barrier Trial Pop-Up Sale

Tattersalls Online will host a dedicated Barrier Trial Pop-Up Sale on Thursday 3rd  – Friday 4th  September, offering buyers the opportunity to acquire a selection of promising young horses who recently showcased their potential at the ITM Barrier Trials.

Held at Leopardstown on Wednesday 26 August, the ITM Barrier Trials once again provided an opportunity for owners, trainers and prospective buyers to assess a selection of Ireland’s unraced talent. The trials have established a strong reputation as a source of promising young horses, with many graduates progressing to successful racing careers including the Group 1 winners MAGICAL LAGOON and A CASE OF YOU.

The latest Tattersalls Online sale will provide connections with an immediate and convenient route to market following the trials, allowing them to capitalise on the interest generated by their horses’ performances.

The first lot to be offered is OCEAN PHOENIX. She will be consigned by her Tipperary-based trainer, Kevin Coleman. The daughter of ULYSSES was purchased for 40,000gns from Clara Stud by Sean Grassick Bloodstock at Book 3 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale last year. OCEAN PHOENIX was ridden by Colin Keane in Batch 8 and settled mid-field. She then displayed a very likable attitude as she rounded the entire field and fought up the hill to pull away and win by a length. The promising filly is a half-sister to the five-time winner CRIMSON ROAD and her dam REDHAWK is out of the Group 3 winner RED FEATHER.

Up and coming trainer Stephen Thorne will consign the seance lot ALL TALK who is owned by Gigginstown House Stud. A son of the red-hot young stallion BLUE POINT, ALL TALK was ridden by Rory Cleary in his trial and was eye-catching when taking up the running at the four-furlong mark. He duly ran out an easy winner, being last off the bridle and he crossed the line with a very impressive six lengths to hand. He is out of the GALILEO mare EAVESDROP, who is out of a half-sister to the multiple Group 1 winner KINGSGATE NATIVE and is the dam of the listed placed 101 rated three-year-old son of NIGHT OF THUNDER, VAUNTINGLY.

On publication of the catalogue for the Tattersalls Online Barrier Trials Pop-Up Sale, Tattersalls Online Sales Manager Katherine Sheridan said:
