Suspicious Mindz Tops Tattersalls Online July Sale

Last weekend’s Curragh maiden winner SUSPICIOUS MINDZ topped proceedings at the Tattersalls Online July Sale when selling for 50,000 guineas to Chalkstone Racing.

One of four lots in the sale consigned by Jessica Harrington’s Commonstown Stables, the three-year-old son of BATED BREATH boasts a current Timeform rating of 88 and is a half-brother to Group 2 Norfolk Stakes winner THE RIDLER. Commonstown Stables, who finished as the sale’s leading consignor, also gained a notable result with Galway Festival maiden winner COLLECTING COIN who sold for 33,000 guineas to Max & Mabel.

Chalkstone Racing enjoyed further success in the sale by purchasing fellow last-time-out winner GREAT DREAM for 30,000 guineas. Consigned by William Haggas’ Somerville Lodge, the three-year-old gelding by INVINCIBLE SPIRIT recorded a career best when scoring by eleven lengths at Ffos Las a fortnight ago.

After successfully securing both lots, Chalkstone Racing’s Stuart McFarlane commented:

“Both will come and join our newly established operation, Chalkstone Racing, in Malton. We have long-term plans for the stable and some shorter-term plans as well where we are looking to secure some quality horses in training who have demonstrated plenty of potential. We are delighted to have secured these two horses from the top stables of Jessica Harrington and William Haggas. We felt they represented excellent value and look the type to keep progressing and compete in some valuable races.”

“There was plenty of quality on offer throughout the catalogue and, as our first introduction to purchasing on the Tattersalls Online platform, we found the experience really efficient and everything went very smoothly.”

Also proving popular was a yearling filly from the first crop of Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner ACE IMPACT who realised 42,000 guineas when sold to Bold Lines.

Consigned by Haras de Beaumont, who also stand European champion ACE IMPACT at stud, the April-born filly is out of Group 3 Prix d’Aumale winner SHAHAH and is a half-sister to four winners including Listed placed URSULY, whose family traces back to multiple Group 1 winner GRAND LODGE.

Following the sale, a representative from Bold Lines said:

“Yearlings by Ace Impact are highly anticipated, and this filly was a great opportunity to purchase one of his first offspring. Unbeaten in six races and winner of the Prix du Jockey Club in record time, the world’s highest-rated three-year-old has passed on his physique, strength and action. He has every chance of becoming a successful sire, especially considering the quality of mares he has covered.”

Commenting on using the platform for the first time, the representative added:

“Tattersalls Online gave us the rare opportunity to buy one of the first yearlings by this champion early in the season. It is an excellent sale that offers access to quality horses.”

Elsewhere, the regally bred young broodmare COMPLY from Castlehyde Stud, who was offered in foal to European champion two-year-old LITTLE BIG BEAR, sold to CV Bloodstock for 39,000 guineas. Out of Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner ROSDHU QUEEN, the three-year-old daughter of ST MARK’S BASILICA is also a half-sister to Listed placed BOUNTY.

Over 300 bidders joined the sale from countries including Belgium, Britain, France, India, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The United States of America and Zambia as well as bidders from throughout the Gulf region.
