Hyde Park Stud-Consigned Colt Tops Tattersalls Online Breeze Up Session at 30,000 Guineas

The Tattersalls Online June Sale concluded on a high note with the Online Breeze Up Session once again proving a popular source of precocious talent, headed by John Bourke’s Hyde Park Stud-consigned colt by ARDAD who realised the session-topping price of 30,000 guineas.

The colt, a half-brother to last year’s leading Online Breeze Up Session graduate IRISEACH, attracted sustained interest throughout the bidding before being secured by Tylicki Bloodstock for 30,000 guineas following the sale. IRISEACH, also a graduate of Bourke’s Classic-producing operation, has gone on to provide an outstanding advertisement for the session, notably finishing runner-up in the Grade 3 Cecil B. DeMille Stakes at Del Mar.

The Online Breeze Up Session achieved a remarkable clearance rate of 93 per cent with 14 of the 15 lots offered changing hands for a total of 137,200 guineas. The figures underline the continued confidence buyers have in the innovative format which combines professional breeze footage, official sectionals and comprehensive veterinary information with the convenience of online bidding.

Commenting on the session, Tattersalls Online Sales Manager, Katherine Sheridan said:

“The Online Breeze Up Session has established itself as an important fixture in the calendar and we were delighted to see such strong demand for these two-year-olds. The 30,000 guineas paid for the Ardad colt reflects the confidence buyers have in the quality of horses being offered and it was particularly pleasing to see a half-brother to Iriseach top the session.”

“Graduates such as Iriseach and Fiona Maccoul have demonstrated the calibre of horse that can be sourced through the session and it is encouraging to see buyers continuing to embrace the format. To sell 14 of the 15 juveniles offered is a tremendous result for our vendors and we would like to thank them, together with all purchasers, for their continued support.”

The Tattersalls Online Breeze Up Session remains Europe’s only dedicated online breeze up auction and continues to attract growing interest from buyers seeking quality two-year-olds in a transparent and accessible sales environment. A diverse buying bench resulted in lots being sold to Britain, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Sweden and the Gulf region.

The Breeze Up Session formed part of a successful Tattersalls Online June Sale which realised turnover of 616,500 guineas. The sale recorded an average price of 11,209 guineas and a median of 5,500 guineas, with widespread participation from domestic and international bidders.
