Tattersalls Online to Auction “Spirit Horse” to Raise Funds for DoItForBrodie C.I.C.

Tattersalls Online will host a special online auction in support of DoItForBrodie Community Interest Company (C.I.C.) with bidding opening on Tuesday 28 April and closing on Friday 1 May. The sale will feature “Spirit Horse, a sculpture created by artist Penny Hardy, with all proceeds to be donated to DoItForBrodie C.I.C.

The DoItForBrodie C.I.C. was established by Emma Webb to support young people’s mental health and wellbeing through compassionate, non-clinical approaches rooted in lived experience, therapeutic animal interaction and community connection. Founded in memory of her daughter, Brodie, who sadly took her own life in 2020, the organisation seeks to complement existing services by providing accessible support and helping young people feel less isolated.

Created specifically to raise funds for DoItForBrodie, “Spirit Horse” reflects Penny Hardy’s signature style, capturing the movement, energy and vitality of the horse, an animal deeply loved by Brodie who was herself an accomplished rider.

The collaboration between Penny Hardy and DoItForBrodie founder Emma Webb began following their meeting at the JustGiving Awards in 2023, where Emma’s extraordinary fundraising efforts were widely recognised. Penny, moved by Emma’s story, offered her support to help raise funds for the newly established Community Interest Company.

Emma Webb has become one of the UK’s most inspiring grassroots fundraisers for youth mental health causes. In memory of her daughter Brodie, she has undertaken a series of remarkable challenges, which began with walking 285 miles in 2020, each mile representing a life lost to suicide in Wales that year, raising over £10,000 for PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide.

In 2023, Emma completed the ‘Leg On to London’, a 15-day, 157-mile walk from Chepstow to London International Horse Show with Miles, an 80kg life-size resin horse, raising more than £59,000 for mental health charities including PAPYRUS and Riders Minds, an effort which saw her named Creative Fundraiser of the Year at the JustGiving Awards.

Across her fundraising initiatives to date, Emma Webb has already raised in the region of £100,000 for mental health charities, alongside driving national awareness through her #DoItForBrodie campaign and community-based initiatives. This year, on 1 May, she and Miles will be embarking on the ‘Bolt to Badminton’, a 6-day, 80-mile walk to Badminton Horse Trials to continue to raise funds and awareness about suicide prevention.

Tattersalls Online Sales Manager Katherine Sheridan commented:

“Tattersalls is delighted to support this very worthwhile initiative and to host the auction of Spirit Horse on Tattersalls Online. Emma Webb’s extraordinary fundraising efforts and the important work of DoItForBrodie deserve the widest possible support, and we are pleased to play a small part in raising funds for such a meaningful cause.”

Spirit Horse is crafted from aluminium and resin with a bronze acrylic finish and measures approximately 72cm in length and 58cm in height. The sculpture will be available to view at Tattersalls Park Paddocks in Newmarket during the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale on 14 – 15 April and the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up and Horses in Training Sale on 29 – 30 April.
