The attractive daughter of DAWN APPROACH ran an eye-catching second on debut over seven furlongs at Leopardstown last month. Also boasting a pedigree with appeal, she is out of the dual Listed placed mare FRENCH FUSION and hails from the family of Group 1 Melbourne Cup winner TWILIGHT PAYMENT. Blandford Bloodstock’s Stuart Boman commented following the sale: “She caught the eye at Leopardstown. Irish maidens are so competitive and she closed very well. When you are buying from Jim Bolger, you know these horses have not only been produced well but they have also been bred with meticulous care. It can be hard to find horses that are lightly raced that have exhibited a high level of ability. Ultimately, she looks to be good value when compared to the breeze up or yearling prices. She has already shown potential and hopefully she goes on for new connections.” An astute agent and active buyer in both hemispheres, Boman added after purchasing, “The process was very smooth. Everything has been very straight-forward. It’s a platform that is obviously growing. Other jurisdictions like Australia are so engaged with online sales normally, it’s obviously the direction of travel and we have to keep moving with it.” Selling from the comfort of home today, Glebe House Stables’ representative Clare Manning was thrilled with today’s result: “We are absolutely delighted. We always thought very highly of her and she was bought by a very good judge. After she ran well at Leopardstown, we saw the opportunity to enter her with Tattersalls Online. We knew if all went to plan, like it did today, that we could achieve a big result.” “The platform is so easy to use; it’s simple and cost efficient. We didn’t have the expense of traveling to the sales and all that goes with it. There was no disruption to her routine and it was great to have a fast turnaround to get her on the market quickly. It makes life very easy for both vendor and purchaser.” Elsewhere in the sale, the addition of the complete dispersal of the estate of legendary Irish trainer Kevin Prendergast attracted great interest with all ten lots offered selling for an aggregate of 241,800 guineas. Most popular of the consignment was unraced two-year-old MERGUS SERRATOR who was bought for 58,000 guineas by James Fyffe. By Epsom Derby winner MASAR, he is out of a full sister to Listed winner and Group 1 placed sire WHITECLIFFSOFDOVER. Also finding favour was unraced two-year-old filly SPECKLED BROWN who realised 56,000 guineas to the final bid of Nick Bell acting as agent for Windlestone. A daughter of Prendergast’s Classic winning sire AWTAAD, she is a sister to three winners and comes from the family of Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner CHORIST. Another popular lot was IOWNTHEBALL who fetched 40,000 guineas to Serbian-based Vladimir Vukojevic. Already a winner of a Down Royal maiden last year, the son of ADVERTISE had since been placed in handicap company and boasts a Timeform rating of 85. The Tattersalls Online July Sale realised a turnover of 677,000 guineas for 62 lots sold, at an average price of 10,919 guineas. Over 320 bidders registered for the sale from countries including Belgium, Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, Serbia, Sweden and Switzerland as well as bidders from throughout the Gulf region.
