Consigned by Robert Edwards’ Uplands Stables in Lambourn, RIVER IN PARADISE, the promising two-year-old filly by LOPE Y FERNANDEZ, ran out an impressive winner of a six furlong maiden fillies’ stakes at Lingfield on 4th June, earning a Timeform rating of 73p for the performance.

Despite still learning her craft during the early stages, RIVER IN PARADISE improved with every furlong, travelling strongly before quickening clear to score by a length and a half.

Tracking the early pace under Robbie Downey, she made superb headway in the home straight, clocking a time of 22.81 seconds for the final quarter of a mile, over half a second faster than the more experienced runner-up. Despite making her challenge on the slowest part of the track, she still recorded an average speed figure of 37.3 mph, making her the fastest two-year-old to have run on the Lingfield Polytrack so far this year.

The form of the race has significant substance with the runner-up having filled the same position on both previous starts, whilst eight of her nine rivals brought prior racecourse experience into the contest.

Following her eye-catching debut, the exciting filly will now be targeted towards the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes which will be ran over six furlongs on Wednesday of the Royal meeting.

RIVER IN PARADISE, a graduate of the Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale, is the first foal out of winning INVINCIBLE SPIRIT mare RIVER EDEN, herself a daughter of Listed Silver Tankard Stakes winner LADY HEIDI. Her pedigree is further enhanced by the presence of dual Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed THEWAYIAM, as well as Group 1 winner TENBY and multiple Group 1 placed EXOSPHERIC.
